Welcome Message from
The President

As HKUST’s new President, I am delighted to extend my heartfelt welcome to our new and returning students as you start a new academic year at our University.

Those of you who are returning students at our Clear Water Bay campus will already have thoroughly familiarized yourselves with our outstanding academic facilities and extra-curricular amenities. It is my sincere hope that our new arrivals will enjoy an equally stimulating first year as they go about discovering and experiencing the same resources for themselves.

One of the most exciting recent development at HKUST is the opening of our Guangzhou campus, and the increased opportunity for collaboration and involvement in internships and entrepreneurial endeavors in the Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, with the expanding range of activities at our magnificent new Shaw Auditorium, and our soon to be opened Jockey Club I-Village halls of residence, your experiences outside the classroom promise to be just as exciting and enriching.

HKUST has always prided itself on fostering a safe space where students of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and walks of life can thrive academically, socially, and culturally. By transforming our ideals into action, the University management is committed to continuously striving hard to further enhance our University’s already high levels of diversity and inclusivity.

I encourage you to take full advantage of the wide spectrum of resources and assets we have created for you during your time here at HKUST. Doing so will not only broaden your intellectual horizons and nurture interpersonal skills, but also provide you with a solid foundation for future success.

In closing, I once again extend a warm welcome to you, and together with my team, wish you a rewarding academic journey. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you very soon.

Welcome Message from
The Acting Dean Of Students

Dear all new fellow students,

Welcome to HKUST, your new home away from home! We are thrilled to have you here and excited for the journey you are embarking on.

As you start this new chapter in your life, everything may seem different from what you are used to, but that makes this experience so unique. Our New Student Orientation (NSO) website is designed to help you navigate and explore our beautiful campus. It also provides you with all the information you need to make the most of your time here.

At HKUST, we believe in providing you with a well-rounded education beyond academic excellence. We offer plenty of opportunities prepared for you to extend your learning outside of the classroom, including community service, clubs and organizations, exchanges, competitions, internships, practical projects, sports, and artistic activities. Most important of all, we have plenty of opportunities for you to make friends and explore what is around you. This will allow you to discover your passions, develop new skills, and make lifelong connections with your peers, mentors, and seniors.

We are committed to helping you succeed and thrive during your time here. Our staff and faculty are always here to support you and guide you through any challenges you may face. We encourage you to embrace our core values of personal integrity, respect for diversity, and responsibility for the community, as they will serve you well during your time at HKUST and in your personal and professional life.

A university education is NOT just about grades and degrees but an opportunity to explore your strengths and define your purpose in life. We were hoping you could make the best use of your time here and have an unforgettable experience that will positively shape your future. So, welcome once again to HKUST! We can't wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish and the incredible person you will become during your time here.

Best regards,

Prof. King CHOW
