AESTHETICS & CULTURE
Your gateway to creative exploration and discovery
The University offers a wide variety of artistic and cultural activities to our students. Whatever your interests, there is always something new for you to explore.
The Shaw Auditorium is home to HKUST's cultural activities and a new landmark for large scale events, providing new flexibilities and possibilities to create a vibrant arts and cultural scene at the University.
As a multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of around 850 for concerts and over 1,300 in flat floor configurations, the venue can be used to host different kinds of events such as concerts, theater performances, lectures, exhibitions, and ceremonies. There are also supporting facilities offering space for seminars, rehearsals, small-scale performances, and gatherings both indoors and outdoors.
You Can Make The World A Better Place
Community engagement is an integral part of university education because it helps students realize the relevance of their knowledge and their responsibility as a global citizen. HKUST Connect supports you to connect your skills and education to contribute to the larger community and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore your unique role as a “changemaker”.
- To prepare yourself to be a changemaker, you can get involved in The Changemaker Pathway by choosing to participate in any or all of the components according to your own readiness and aspirations.

Your university life can be something more
We believe that university life is more than academics. Through a wide variety of programs and activities, we cultivate an environment for our students to thrive and flourish as individuals.
Student activities form an important part of university life because they empower students in a way that no textbooks can. They allow students to pursue their interests and broaden their horizons, urge them to make their own decisions and develop vital skills, and help them develop a sense of belonging through active participation and teamwork.
At HKUST, a myriad of interesting activities and programs are offered for you to enrich your campus life. You can enroll in university activities, student-led activities, become leaders of student organizations, or even initiate your projects/groups. We provide training, advice, funding, and amenities to student organizations and student-led activities.
Your second home, HKUST
We understand that living away from home for the first time is very challenging, but it is also the best time to learn how to live independently and respect others like your family.
We want our students to find a true sense of belonging at HKUST and call this place home.
Discover your full potential
We offer students opportunities to explore, cultivate new interests and connect with the wider community through our co-curricular programs at HKUST.
