The checklist should help you identify important activities to kick start your university study and life here.

GETTING STARTED

  • Complete Online Program Registration
    • JUPAS: Program Registration
    • Non-JUPAS (Local)/ International/ Mainland JEE: Students should refer to the email from the Academic Registry titled “Invitation for Program Registration” from July onwards.
  • Activate your HKUST email account (For JUPAS entry students, please activate on Aug 8, 09:00 and onward)
  • Access and check your HKUST email (@connect.ust.hk) at https://O365.ust.hk or Student Intranet (important information and notifications from different units will be sent to this email account)
  • Collect Student Card (refer to respective Schools' orientation information page SBM, SSCI, SENG, SHSS, AIS for details)

CLASS ENROLLMENT

  • Check class pre-enrollment results via "Student Center" in Student Intranet
  • Enroll first term classes via Student Intranet
  • Add/Drop classes via Student Intranet
  • Attend Academic Advising sessions (these sessions are very useful and critical for your class pre-enrolment; refer also to respective Schools' orientation information, SBM, SSCI, SENG, SHSS, AIS & individual email notifications for details; absence from these sessions may affect your study progress)

Below are the information and arrangements during the Orientation and Induction periods 2023

IN CASE OF TYPHOON SIGNALS OR RAINSTORM WARNINGS ARE ANNOUNCED

Warning / Typhoon Signal Arrangement of all scheduled workshops & orientation activities
Amber or Red Rainstorm Warning, or Typhoon Signal No. 1 or No. 3
  • When Amber or Red Rainstorm Warning is announced or Typhoon Signal No. 1 or No. 3 is hoisted, all activities will continue as scheduled. All offices will also remain open.
  • For other activities off Campus, please watch for announcements, emails or contact the organizing schools or offices.
Black Rainstorm Warning
  • If black rainstorm warning is announced, all the activities will be cancelled.
  • Those on-campus activities in progress will normally continue until the end unless otherwise instructed by organizing units.
  • Stay indoors wherever you are and do not leave until the warning is cancelled and/or the conditions are safe.
Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Above
  • When a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted or to be hoisted within 2 hours (pre-No. 8), all activities will be cancelled.
  • Those on-campus activities in progress should be terminated as soon as practicable.

  • activities starting at or after 8:30 will be held as scheduled

  • All activities will be held as scheduled and will be resumed after 2 hours of the announcement made by the HK Observatory
12:00noon
  • activities starting before 14:00 will be cancelled
  • activities starting at or after 14:00 will be held as scheduled
4:00pm
  • activities starting before 18:00 will be cancelled
  • activities starting at or after 18:00 will be held as scheduled
