To prepare you for a smooth transition to university studies, the School of Engineering (SENG) has tailor-made a series of events for you. It is important that you attend ALL the events according to your type of admission (JUPAS/local, non-JUPAS/non-local).

Event details for students with an Engineering major will be informed by their program offices.

2. COLLECT STUDENT CARD

Student Card will be issued to students who have completed program registration. Registered students will be notified by the Academic Registry for Student Card collection in the following timeframe:

JUPAS From mid-Aug onwards
Non-JUPAS (Local)/
International/ Mainland JEE		 From mid-Jul onwards
 


Students should refer to the photo specifications for Student Card.

3. ACADEMIC ADVISING (COMPULSORY)

First year students are welcome to access academic advising services from the following sessions and channels.

Orientation Talk
Session #1: Jul 26 (Fri) 14:00-15:00 at LT-E (Mixed-mode)
for students with offer confirmed by Jul 25 (Thu)
Session #2: Aug 2 (Fri) 14:00-15:00 at LT-E (Mixed-mode)
for students with offer confirmed by Aug 1 (Thu)
Session #3: Aug 23 (Fri) 11:00-12:00 at LT-J
only for students who cannot attend the previous sessions
Attend one session of Academic Advising Talk from the above. Details will be sent to students through email.

Course Registration and Advising Online Helpdesk (for NIHK Non-JUPAS Students)
Aug 8 (Thu) - 9 (Fri) 12:00-16:00 (via Zoom)
Academic advisors and peer mentors will be available to assist you with the course registration process.  Students should complete the Course Registration by Aug 10, 17:30. Details are available at sengreg.hkust.edu.hk.

Orientation Talk

Students with surname starting with A-J are advised to attend Session #1
Students with surname starting with K-R are advised to attend Session #2
Students with surname starting with S-Z are advised to attend Session #3
Students may attend the Orientation Talk before joining the Course Registration and Advising.

Course Registration and Advising
Aug 8 (Thu) - 9 (Fri) 10:00-17:00 at Engineering Common (Room 2580 via Lift 27/28)

4. PEER MENTORING PROGRAM

Peer mentors will be assigned to each first year students. They will organize different social activities, like cultural learning and sports to help first year students adjust to the university life. Details of the activities will be notified by the peer mentors.
